Organized at Endicott, NY in 1984 by the 77 ship's company & air groups personnel present at that first reunion of USS Belleau Wood (CVL-24).    By-laws were subsequently adopted and non-profit status obtained from the IRS. Due to the advanced ages of the members, the Association is no longer active.

    In 1998 the Association voted to include ship's company & air groups personnel (and former) of  USS Belleau Wood LHA-3.  They are invited to join and participate in the management of the current successful Association.  We believe their participation will ensure the longevity of the "Belleau Wood" name, and that future generations will be aware of the great contributions that were made by CVL-24 and LHA-3 to keep American free.
